Wet Cell Mucho Thirsty!

Some perhaps good news

After running the fantastic fan on lowest setting for 12 hours today without shore power the micro pulse monitor still reads as full - in going to go check the voltage from the battery as well

I guess this does not rule out a failure(s) but so far so good - I hope

Not to burst your bubble, but since installing the Trimetric , I have noticed that full on the Micropulse isn't very accurate.
If you do nothing else, install a good battery monitor. It's easy, and worth the peace of mind.

OMG, the Micropulse isn't accurate? What is the world coming to? How could that possibly be true?

Pretty hilarious there, George.

I'm kidding, of course. I'm a kidder.

lol, I am aware of its lack of accuracy....but I guess it is hopeful at least maybe that a) the batter is not so dead yet that my lights and fans are not working or b) the micropulse shows it “full”....

Ie, the batteries do not appear ruined....I hope....

The Fantastic fan only draws about 1 amp, so 12 hours running is only 12 amp hours, not much of a load or test of the battery capacity at all. If the two original group 24 batteries are good, and fully charged, they have about 150 amp hours of capacity. So, 12 amp hours is less than 10% of their capacity.

If you need to know a bit more about what's going on with your batteries, whip out your trusty Radio Shack volt meter and see what it says. I've noticed that my solar charger panel is generally low by 0.10 volts, so I use my meter, usually by opening the cover on the converter or by measuring at the batteries. You could also check the specific gravity for each of your battery cells, before and after charging them back up.

Hey, Idroba, the crappy capacity-damaged batteries that were originally in my trailer showed significant drop in voltage after doing exactly what Pharmgeek did. So, my batteries were in worse shape than what he just described. Getting better performance than that is admittedly a low bar, but at least his batteries are in better shape than mine were before I got them replaced under warranty.

So I got a cheapy hydrometer from advanced auto - only one they had - it was like 5 bucks - not the thermometer mercury looking type - has a dial that floats up like a gauge -

Results show the battery is no good - I had trailer plugged in for a week - unplugged for 2 hours and switched to "store" and then checked - all clear read on the "red" zone for specific gravity

Maybe - maybe I had a loss of power within the last couple days but I doubt it ......hmmmm-----

I'm not a fan of hydrometers , especially the cheap, non-temperature compensated types.

Your best test I'd resting DC voltage. PM me for more details.

My charger I use for my boat batteries read both batteries at 13.1 v

Also micro pulse reads at full

I plan to bring both batteries for testing at advanced soon if needed

Get them tested... When in doubt. Get the good converter first if possible.
