I am installing a Victron BMV-712 shunt in a waterproof box inside the battery box on the front of the Airstream. I wired the shunt to one of the negatives that had a wire going into the trailer, along with the solar charger port wire. I then noticed that the terminal on the other battery also has a wire disappearing into the trailer.
After reading here, it sounds like one goes to the inverter (this is the one I connected to), and the other goes to the
12v system. I noticed the BMV doesn't pick up on the amps going into the batteries when charging (reads 0 amps).
My question: can I move both of those negative battery wires connected to the negative terminals TOGETHER on the load side of the shunt?
I will be using 2awg from the battery side of the shunt to the negative terminal, and replacing the relatively small (6awg?) wire connecting the two negative terminals with a 2awg.
