Victron BMV-712 install in 2017 30 International

Hi folks, I’m planning to install a BMV-712 in my 2017 30 International.

I recently became aware of the pre-wire cat5 that sits behind the Sea Level sensor in the galley wall. And I intend to use this for the monitor.

I’ve not been able to confirm though where the other end of the cat5 is in my trailer. I somewhat assume it is behind the converter (under the fridge), but don’t know for sure. Can anyone confirm?

Then also, does anyone have a best practice for locating the shunt inside on the 30 International? I somewhat assume putting it inside the small street side storage compartment under the L-lounge makes the most sense.

On our 2016 30 international we put two 100Ah BB LiFePO4 and all the other related hardware including the BMV-712 shunt under the driver side L-lounge/couch in the front of the trailer.

Since we were no longer using the factory solar controller we removed the display in the galley and put the BWV-712 display in its place. To this end we had to splice the stock 4 pair communication cable (you call this the pre wire cat5) that went to the old controller to match the 3 pair comm cable used by the BMV-712.

The other end of the 4 pair comm cable (cat5) goes from the galley to the rats nest in the very front of the trailer. Look under the L shaped couch thing for the nest. There is a board on which is mounted the use/store relay, the 7 wires from the TV, the ground and 12V buss bars, and the solar controller thing.

The 4 pair comm cable (cat5) plugs in to the solar controller thing.

Thanks all. I hadn’t realized there would be a pile of wires under the L-lounge. That must be where the ground bus is that I see in the schematic. It sounds like Installing the shunt will be pretty easy.
