Tank Monitor Panel

I dropped the fresh water tank a few days ago and cut the blue wire that provides tank level readings. I reinstalled the tank and spliced the 2 wires back together. Now the red E on the panel stays illuminated without pressing any of the buttons, well, of course if ya press the black and grey the E also stays illuminated because they are empty. So how did I screw up this simple procedure, and ,yes, the are connected to the right wires.
