Tahoe battery plug

HELP! I'm hooking my '67 Safari to a 2003 Tahoe Z-71. Thanks to the Forum, I have the plug figured out...except fpr the the battery, or the (+) terminal. I'm guessing that this goes to the "Univolt" to charge the battery. From what I can find, it should be the blue lead. I don't find any charge or power coming from the blue lead or out of the Tahoe plug. I did find a post that cautions against hooking power directly, by battery, to the pos and neg trailer umbilical because it will short. I found that to be true before I found the post. Is there anyone with Chevrolet plug experience? I can't seem to find a "battery" fuse under the Tahoe hood that may be blown either.I know that the "Univolt" may be bad, but it seems that there should be power up to there somewhere....? There is a blue lead that runs to the fuse block.

Looking at the plug to the trailer (the diagram below is looking at the connectors from behind where you would be MAKING the connections) the power connector is the top left of the keyway connector.

ok, help me out here....Previous threads seem to point to the fact that the blue lead goes to the fuse block and then to the univolt. There is a large blue coated wire that terminates in the fuse block then connects to the univolt. The brake lead is yellow. The wiring diagram on the tow vehicle connector cover doesn't match the diagram in your post.

did you install the fuse under the hood?

you will have no power to your plug unless you do. it should be taped to the harness for the brake controller that came with your truck.

OK - most newer vehicles 7-wire plug on the car or truck have the terminals identified on the plug surface itself. Look closely - there may be lettering around the outer rim of the connector.

Is your trailer plug the original? If so - older trailers have a different wiring pattern then modern setups.

In my 66 Caravel the hot wire from the truck connects to the fuse block then on to the Univolt - not directly to the battery.

Thanks for the help. I can see that I need to contact my local Chevrolet dealership first. John, it looks like I have a trailer package, but I'll be darned if I know anything about a brake controler and fuse that comes with it. Also, one of the posts is correct. The blue line connects to the fuse box and not to the battery. The wiring diagram shows two batteries. Did some models come equiped that way or am I missing a battery somewhere?

On my 69 the blue wire goes to a 25 amp circuit breaker then on to the battery, univolt isn't even in the diagram. You will either have to rewire the trailer plug or rewire the veh plug, as they will not match up for the years you are dealing with.

There is a 40 amp fuse that needs to be installed un the fuse box under the hood. If a brake controller was never hooked up then they probably never installed the 40 amp fuse which powers the trailer when hooked to the TV. Look in your owners manual to locate the position of the fuse and make sure it does not have a "dummy" fuse in that position. My '03 and '06 GMC's both had a "dummy" fuse.
