Just a few 'real world' observations and experiences, as I deal with this subject every day and RV electrical and charging systems are one of my specialties.
The 'Best' converter for Lifeline batteries, that being the one with the closest charging profile to what Lifeline recommends, is the IOTA DQ4 line of converters. As expected, they are a fully automatic 3-stage charger with 14.2-14.3 VDC bulk/absorption voltage and a 13.2 VDC float.
As for inverters, I would STAY AWAY from anything labeled XANTREX! All of the components in their entire line are made in China, and most are NOT REPAIRABLE! Just ask the guy with the $700,000 Country Coach motor home who just had to replace BOTH of his OEM Xantrex ProSine 3000 inverters when the charging sections went out. Reply from Xantrex.......'sorry, they can't be fixed'.
The best inverters currently on the market are made right here in the good old USA (in the shadow of the Boeing plant in Everett, WA) by Magnum Energy! They are totally field repairable (I'm a factory authorized service center) and rarely fail on their own. They come in a variety of sizes from 1200 watts/70 amp charger up to 4000 watt grid-tie inverters for domestic solar use.
The most popular units are the ME-2012 (modified sine wave, 2000 watts/100 amp charger) and the MS-2012 (pure sine wave, 2000 watts with 100 amp charger). Be advised that the Magnum modified sine wave in fully compatible with most of todays electronics and TVs and is standard equipment on many high-and motor homes. Plus, Magnum's version of a 'modified sine wave' is much closer to the pure sine wave than any other companies version of a modified sine wave. Just check it out on your oscilloscope!
One of the benefits of the Magnum line is their easy to understand, fully programmable remote. A battery monitor kit is also available so you can get a complete, accurate reading on your battery usage....your battery 'fuel gauge'.
Let me know if you have any application questions on the Magnum products.
