Power supply ?

We have a new 2007 Safari SE and can't seem to get the power supply to work right or we may not understand how it works. We have the series 7300 power center.

The batteries are fully charged, but we cannot change the switch for the 7300 power converter from "store" to "use", until we have plugged the AS into 110. The switch is dead until we plug in 110. Then, we can disconnect the 110 and have 12 volt, until we go to "store". Then, we cannot go back to "use" again, until hooking up 110 again.

Have we missed something?

the parallax 7300 is a converter/charger, not an inverter.

while confusing it is important to understand the differences.

you should have the owners manual in your a/s kit but here is a link to it...

i never use the 'kill' switch while plugged into shore power.

basic the kill switch cuts off all of the small 12 drains (except the lpgas detector) called phantom loads.

the phantom loads discharge the batteries slowly.

1. first disconnect from shore power.
2. move the kill switch to 'store'
3. lower the front cover and inspect the fuses.
4. replace any fuses that are cooked.
5. close the cover and move the kill switch to 'use', do not plug into shore power yet.
6. should have 12v working now.
7. turn kill off again and back on, i usually wait 2 minutes.
8. IF the 12v is working, plug back into shore power
9. after making sure none of the main breakers have tripped and everything is working, unplug shore (110) again
10. 12v should still be working. now flip the kill to 'store' again
11. drop the access cover and check the fuses again. IF any fuses blow a 2nd time, you need an expert.

i'm just a user and don't know much about 'lectricity, except to be careful about touching things...

i can't imagine the battery leads have been reversed, unless you've unhooked them recently, but the basic steps to follow for 'no power' are provided..

Thanks, 2air, We have the owner's manual, but not the trouble shooting page. Will print that, study it and then see if we can figure it out.

I checked all the fuses and all look good. I could only get between #5 and #6 on the check list before nothing worked.

There is a "test" button , and when pushed, doesn't feel like anything is there.

I'll ask my husband to check the batteries again, but am almost positive that they are installed correctly. But, something is wrong, so will double check.

IF the fuses are all ok, next is checking the 'polarity' and voltages...

look at the flow sheet....

-remove the 30 amp fuse
-check polarity using the blue wire and negative "d" terminal
-is dc voltage in proper (13.2-14.2) range?
-are all the breakers/circuits on?
-is ac voltage in proper (105-130) range?

you will need a multimeter, but just follow the flow sheet...
