Please recommend a good 6 volt battery

Hello All,

I bought my 25 Intl used about 6 years ago and it had the battery box retrofitted so it could hold 2 6 volt batteries wired in series. The system has worked fine but the batteries need to be replaced. I don't want to get into anything fancy but was hoping for a solid recommendation for a straight swap out of what I have. I'd like something that has a long life and good reputation. Thanks in advance, you guys are always a great help.

Tim

Good reputation seems to be Trojan batteries for golf carts, etc. I think they're in the $160 range, T-105.
I've used the Interstate Batteries clone which is about $110 locally. (I have two Interstate Battery stores near me.)

My current RV has 4 so changing them is expensive!

I'm a believer in only using distilled water and being sure they stay topped off.

Keep in mind you'll also have sales tax and a disposal tax. It all adds up.

The Trojans are what my aftermarket guy recommends. I would investigate the Lifeline product to see if there is any advantage. I would also see what the Walmart or similar discount solution will cost you. With that info you should be able to make an informed decision. Will be surprised if the Trojans don't come out on top, but please keep us informed of what you find. Pat

Crown also makes a very good line. Choice of AGM or flooded.

I wouldn't rule out Crown. They have my attention, that's for sure.

Excellent batteries at lower costs than others. Labeled Duracell, made by East Penn, available at Sam's Club and Batteries Plus Bulbs.

You need to evaluate your battery needs based on power density (amp hours vs. weight), size, and cost. Lewster recommends lifeline, but says even in some sizes the additional AH are not worth the increase in price.

I went with US made East Penn batteries, branded as Duracell. They were about $110 ea from Batteries Plus Bulbs for 230 amps. So far no issues!

I don't know about 6v batteries, but I switched to a single Optima 12v battery about 6 years ago in my '67 and do not plan to ever buy a flooded lead acid battery again. The AGM's are more expensive but reguire no maintenance and for me outlast lead/acid 2 to 1 or better.

I bought the same Duracell batteries from Sam's Club about 4 years ago and they have performed well; we mostly boondock. Cost was under $100 each.

Some more accurate information for you. I bought my two Duracell golfcart batteries from Sam's Club 6 years ago. The 20 hr AH rating is 215 and the cost is $84.52 each.

Lifeline 220A 6V AGM GPL-4CT

I've been running Lifeline 220A 6V AGM GPL-4CT for 5 years with no issues. I have 400Watts of Solar keeping them charged.

Thanks

Thanks to all who posted. I ended up buying the Duracell Ultra High Capacity 6V Golf Cart Batteries, for about $100 apiece and installed them this past Monday. The item number at Batteries Plus Bulbs was SLIGC115. the price included 10% off for placing order online and picking up. Thanks again
