Randy, yes I was using the four new screws that came with the kit. The holes in the cover were slightly too high to match the holes in the new converter, thus requiring a bit of reaming on the bottom of each hole (on the cover) to allow good line-up. Not visible to the eye after the cover was replaced.

I get it now. They are brown. The other kits are silver. Regardless they should fit perfect. Sorry for the inconvenience. Never heard that before.

My issue was probably my fault as I didn't even notice the screws until I couldn't get the originals to fit. I then looked further in the package and found the little brown ones, but one had the head twist off right away. I had the same alignment problem, but solved it with a little prying. Still can't find a match for the brown ones so cover is being held on by 3 screws, which only I notice.

George:

You could dab suitably coloured paint on the ends of the silver screws. it's unlikely they'll ever come off again.

Just replaced the OEM converter in my 2014 with a PD4655D. I was thinking of listing the old one on Craig's List. I hate to just toss it.

Does anyone happen to know the brand of the original? The label says Model 7355.

I would not post my old Parallax except on the list of ingredients for my trash can.

Actually, the old battery burner would make a decent DC power supply for the bench. Knowing that it's a constant 13.6 VDC actually might have some benefit for straight DC requirements.

Just don't go charging any batteries with the old beast!!!

Lew has a good point. It's 13.8 but if you were powering a HAM radio or something like that in the shop, it should do fine.

You are right TinTin. Sometimes the obvious is too hard to see. Thanks.
