I am ordering a replacement converter for the univolt already but am wondering if I need a converter for battery to work. I bought my 66 safari this spring and it had been campground bound for a long time. It had no battery in it and I get nothing when I hook up my brand new battery. The twelve volt lights and new water pump (it had no fresh water system either) work when plugged into shore power but I get nothing with battery connected only. So the converter is working to convert to 12 v but the battery is not charging and does not run anything. I thought the 12 v system should work without converter? Any help would be appreciated. Also how do I upload a photo of my 12 v panel to verify it has not been required to by pass battery?
I have not been able to find a battery switch anywhere. I think the old univolt a had an internal switch that recognized a lack of 120v and switched to battery. I suspect this switch may have fried but also it does not charge battery and the only noise I hear is a brief hum right when I plug the trailer in then nothing. It does convert to 12v for the interior lights thiugh as previously mentioned
