New battery, no power?

Hello all. Just got my first trailer, '74 Tradewind, and put a new battery in it. None of the lights come on. When I have it plugged into a 110V, everything works. I should have lights and everything working on only battery power, correct? Any advice would be most helpful to a novice. Thanks.

On my 1967 Tradewind I have 2, 30amp 12v. automotive type fuses in the cables that come of the battery. Check those, also right after the fuses you may have 3 automotive type 12v. 20-30 amp relays, those also could be bad. Adios, John

If I remember correctly trailers of that era had a connector in the battery cable that could be unplugged. You might want to check that, both to be sure that it's plugged in, and that it's still connecting reliably.

The Univolt charger is a big blue box with the fuses in it for the 12volt system. In my 72 it was in the closet in the bathroom under a panel. It will be fairly close to the battery. Most people put in a new 12 volt contertir (intellipower) but keep the fuse panel.

On our '74 (which has the rear bath) there is an inline fuse connected to the blue Univolt, and it goes to the battery. If yours has one of those, have a look.

Um, this might sound silly, but do you know for a fact that the battery is charged? A five-dollar voltmeter is a handy thing to have on a trailer...

I have a 98, 31' excella. while changing out the electric jack at the tongue the hot with accidently touched the frame. now have no 12V power. have looked for reset button per manual in fuse box at front of unit behind sofa. can't locate red reset buttons.
any idea where else to look?

Thanks for the info guys. Found the problem...the ground wire that attaches to the in line fuse (before the fuse panel) was loose. Tightened up the screw and voila. Lights all came on. Thanks so much!

Tom I found also that the fuse holders, being old can sometimes loose connection and a section of overhead lights will go off. Had that happen in the bathroom light and the third overhead light. Road vibration can cause a lot of things to come loose after travel and the fuses and associated cabling is a part of that.
