New Batteries from Battle Born

I finally sprang for the new Lithium Ion Batteries from Battle Born in Reno, NV. These batteries are 100 ah each and weigh in at less than thirty pounds apiece. Also installed a new solar controller from Zamp with 60 ah capacity.

I'm hoping more lithium batteries will come out with a wet cell/AGM form factor with built in BMS

I don't need as much battery capacity as you do so two of these should fit in the same foot print of my two new Lifeline 6v. Two Battle Born 100ah lithiums would give me a useable 160ah vs 110 ah for the 6v AGM, stored under my street side twin bed.

Hopefully by the time I need to replace the Lifelines I can get two 100ah lithiums for $899. Right now the price is still too much for an additional 50amp useable capacity over my Lifeline 6v.

Hope the company stays in business. They are more affordable than the Relion 100ah lithiums

Thanks for sharing

Kelvin

I spent a great deal of time with the owner and his chief engineer. They are smart and are doing well. They are also funding research for a new concept in batteries. They are American made which was a plus for me.

It was great fun to see how the batteries are made...I think I understand batteries much better now.

Does anyone have a state of charge (SOC) chart they use for the Battleborn Lithium battery?

Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to send this to me.

Please excuse my ignorance, could you explain this chart a bit? I'm not sure why it shows a LOAD across the top.

Again, thanks!

I don't know for sure, but I suspect the numbers across the top are the current load in Amps. So realistically for most nominal uses you will be looking at only a few entries, circled below in red.

Voltage isnít overly precise, an actual battery monitor is the only way to get very accurate. However unlike lead acid you can guesstimate the SOC based on voltage with lid applied, if you know the load as it pulls the voltage down with more load.

As you can see, SOC100% with a 100amp load pulls the voltage down from 13.4-13.6 to 12.2V.
