miss wired electrical shore line

Jumped in where I shouldn't have gone. Purchased used 1986 Airstream Excella. Seller said it would run on 110 or 220. Its going to be parked permanently in our yard and I thought an upgrade to 220 would be good (we were using a plug in adapter for the 110). Sounded simple but when I hooked the 220 up, no power! In fact, there is no power to the Airstream breaker panel and going back to the original plug-in doesn't even work any more. I now understand that the typical 220 will fry components. The trailer was basically turned off (except the solar panel may have been running the fridge). What is the list of things I will probably need to replace? Thanks for your help.

How was the 220 plug wired up? Do you have a photo? Running 220 to your unit if it was set up for 120. Would not kill the whole trailer. It would provide a 110 leg of power to the neutral leg which would trip a breaker for sure and “might burn up the converter. A photo or wiring diagram of what you have will help walk you through this.

Not an electrician myself but I would be looking for a blown fuse or as GMFL said a tripped circuit breaker.

Thqnks for taking the time to read/post. I am thinking of possibly a new approach: the AS includes solar, generator and shore power. It is going to be a 'Park' model on our property and will permanently use shore power. Since I probably blew up the converter and inverter I was thinking I would bypass all those items and go directly to the battery. (OK, maybe preserving the generator and possibly the solar panel since it is sooooo cool and smart). I'm in Tacoma WA and will likely need a cracker jack electrician. Any names come to mind? Thanks much, Jim 206 999.7898

No disrespect intended, but nobody can do EVERYTHING. You need an electrician or mobile RV tech before you take another step or make anymore decisions. A person who is familiar with RV wiring would be the best for you.

Not sure what you mean by bypassing the converter and go direct to battery with shore power.....but at face value that can't be done. Something needs to keep your battery charged, and that's the converter when plugged into shore power. Sooooooooo......really...hire someone, tell them what you want the end result you're looking for as far as use is concerned and let a pro do the work.

No use in trying to explain the technical stuff, just hire it out...you'll be happy and SAFE in the end.

With all due respect, Mike

(There is no 220 volt ANYTHING in your trailer, none, nada. People get mixed up because of the plug configuration...it looks like a 220 plug but it isn't.)
