low voltage at Electric hot water heater
I have a add-on Electric hot water heater "hot rod". It has an electric light that illuminates when the electric hot rod is on. It has worked fine for years. Lately, when you turn off the switch for the electric the illuminator lights stays on, but it is dim. I checked the voltage and I am getting 25 volts, then it drops to 20, 19 and down down. But it may take a hour or more to drop back to Zero. If you unplug the electric going to the hot water heater it drops to zero. Plug it back in, it goes back up. If you unplug the trailer it drops to zero. I checked the plug coming from the hot water heater and no voltage, so evidently the plug is somehow completing a ground.
So any ideas where to start. Maybe the on/off 110 switch is bad and feeding current to that outlet only, and it take the hot water plug to complete the ground?? I don't know but any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Richard
