Locking Battery Box 2015 FC

I recently ordered a 2015/16 FC 25' with the factory Solar Panel option. Reading up in what this all entails I noticed Airstream also includes Lifeline GLP-24 AGM batteries in this option. I looked up what they cost on Amazon. Oh my gosh about $350/ea!!

I am pretty sure the battery box does not come with a lock & key, not that this would really stop someone very motivated. But, I would feel better if I could lock the battery box.

Does anyone know of an aftermarket product to lock the battery box on a 2015 Flying Cloud?

Our dealer (Colonial) installed a lock on the battery box without our need to ask. You might want to check with your dealer to see what they do as part of their standard service and whether they will do this for you.

Lock mechanisms are common parts at RV stores. We replaced the OEM lock with a round-key lock we found at Al's RV (local RV parts store in Phoenix); and I think it was about $10.

You can by lock cylinders of all sizes from Lowes and Home Depot. Also check out CH751 RV REPLACEMENT LOCKS, CAM LOCKS, CAMLOCKS for locks with barrel keys.

The way the battery box top is made would make it very easy to simply drill a hole through the flat metal top and down through the flange it rests on. Then put a padlock on it. One on each side if you are feeling really uptight about it.

What I did, and used a Kryptonite lock. If they want the batteries they can cut the box open, but they cannot cut the shank on the padlock with anything but a diamond tip blade.
