Lights flashing when inverter ON

Towed my 23FB (2015 International) all day down the PCH. Pulled into camp (no hook-ups), and need to charge computers. Push the button to turn on the inverter, and the LED lights start flashing. Also, my 'BATT' level reads 10.4. Electrically challenged... Help!

Your batteries are essentially depleated. They did not charge from the drive. Perhaps the batteries are bad, or your tow vehicle is not set up to charge them. Also, it takes a long time to charge a depleated battery with the tow vehicle.

Many of us bring along a portable generator to charge the batteries in the case where we might not have hookups. Honda makes a 1000w and 2000w model that's very quiet. In addition, some of us invest in solar panels as another way to charge the battery. Your battery health is important to keep track of as many systems in your airstream rely on a healthy battery.

Not sure, but your batteries are depleted, however, with a good charge they will come back and do not have to be replaced.

I brought along a good battery charger and will charge both batteries ASAP. Probably need to check the water too. Does anyone use a Battery Tender? Leave it hooked up to the batteries?

The Battery Tenders and generally good chargers. The higher end models are 4-stage chargers, not sure about the entry level ones. Any long-term charger should be a 3 or 4 stage charger. Your AS has a converter so when you're connected to shore power it also can charge your batteries. This is fine once in awhile but if you intend to connect your AS to shore power for many weeks at a time or when your trailer is back at home, then you may damage your batteries and reduce their working lifetime. To rectify this some folks upgrade their converters to include 3-stage battery chargers OR some folks install a good solar charger that includes a 3-stage battery charger.

Prior to the road trip the AS sat at a camp hooked up constantly to 30 amp shore power... My electric jack wouldn't work - which seemed odd because I figured the batteries had a good charge from shore. The dealer replaced a fuse under my forward bed (inverter)...

I have a feeling I need to replace the batteries. But, I'll try a charge first. Do I need to disconnect the batteries before charging?

Your converter should charge the battery once the trailer is plugged into shore power. If it does not there is another problem.

Have your dealer check it out. Maybe a breaker or fuse is preventing the batteries from charging. Once you sort it out the thing to remember is don't leave your batteries charging from your converter for weeks at a time. If you're not interested in upgrading your converter or adding a solar charger, you can simply avoid overcharging the batteries when connected for long periods to shore power by selecting the "Store" position for your battery selector. This will prevent the batteries from being overcharged.

Intelipower makes very nice ones. Get one with the charge wizard. It works great.
