Lifeline group 27

I have 1 original battery box in the front of our 31' 1977 sovereign. 2 questions:

Right now, there's a group 24 marine battery in the box. Will a group 27 lifeline fit?

Where's the best place to buy Lifeline battery online?

Thanks,
Jason

The battery box MAY fit a #27 but you will need to test it for sure, or do a very careful measurement of the length of a 27 vs. a 24. Height and width are the same on both, so the length is the critical number.

As I recall I had a #27 in my '77 25' but Airstream made so many variations of things over the years, along with running changes, that measurement is the only sure answer.

The 27's are longer. Does your 24 fit snug in the current box or is there extra room.

In my '75 Argosy, the box was able to accommodate the lifeline 27 but I'm not sure if the PO had replaced it.

Bottom line you have to measure your box, Lifeline provides all the dimensions on the site.

I bought mine from Marine Fisheries as the total cost was about the same as ordering online and paying for shipping. I also wanted to be able to return it if there were any issues, like not fitting !

Thanks. I found lifeline dimensions online. Looks like the local Battery Plus sells Lifelines. I'll check box dimensions next week and post results.

Do a search for "Lewster" here on the Forums. He sells a variety of Lifelines and can tell you with certainty what size will fit into your box.

I installed a lifeline in 2008 - it is still in the trailer.

A 27T might fit. You will have to probably grind just a bit of the battery door flange down (I assume you have the battery boxes that access from the front).

Be careful if your plastic boxes are cracked or broken, you do not want any gasses to be able to escape into the interior.

There are always SOME CHANCES of off gassing.

This has been debated in length in the past - do a search for "sealed batteries off gassing" or something similar.

Even Lifeline tells people to install the batteries outside or in a sealed box vented to the outside.

I would never take a chance installing a battery in the interior unless the box was properly vented.

I've got (2) group 27 batteries, one in each of the two stock boxes. A group 27 should fit.

I just put a Lifeline 27 in my '75 overlander, height is very close but fits nicely. Found mine through BD batteries in Denver. Gets shipped from factory in California.

Thanks. The 27 or 31 lifeline will fit.
