Question Is It Safe??

Would like to do some inside work on the 03 Classic, the batteries are

out for the winter. Can we safely plug into shore power. The bat. cables are

well insulated.

Smile Hi Banna,

Do you have a 12v turn off swich? Maybe you have a breaker that powers your battery charger. If you kill the battery chargers you schould be O.K.as long as you do not need any 12v. You will only have 115v in your trailer. You will have
to use drop cords for light.

Not sure on the 12v switch and all I need live are the shore power

outlets.

THANKS from snowy Buffalo

I can't find the thread right off. I've read that you shouldn't do this without the battery load inline. Let's see what further responses you get.

Pardon me, but your thread title matches one of the most diabolical dentist scenes Hollywood ever filmed. I would know. But I rather suspect you aren't trying to channel Marathon Man (1976).

Dustin Hoffman I don't know what you mean. I can't tell you something's safe or not, unless I know specifically what you're talking about.

Dustin Hoffman Tell me what the "it" refers to.
Laurence Olivier: Is it safe?
Dustin Hoffman Yes, it's safe, it's very safe, it's so safe you wouldn't believe it.
Laurence Olivier: Is it safe?
Dustin Hoffman No. It's not safe, it's... very dangerous, be careful.

My first thought, exactly.

(It really wasn’t safe)

Back to topic. Consider a cheapie from Wally World. Great exchange policy if it does go bad.

Last winter I removed the good battery, but wanted to work on the trailer. I went to a battery recycler and for 10 bucks got a cheappie battery. Since I wasn't dependant on it for actual power it was fine. I did have some concerns about having a battery that would cause it's own set of problems but the folks at the battery shop showed me it tested out fine, it was just an old one that someone traded in for new.

Worked for me. And it turned out to be a pretty decent battery. I gave it to a neighbor who needed a battery for his enclosed utility trailer inside lighting and he's still using it.
