Welcome, first are you sure you have one? I was told there was one in my trailer, but there is not.

Are you sure you're not looking for the converter? The converter charges your batteries and provides 12VDC to the trailer when on shore power.

An inverter provides 120VAC from your batteries when off-grid, but the quality units can also charge your batteries when on shore power.

Pretty sure you don't have the latter.

Unless a previous owner removed it you will have a converter. I'm not a vintage guy so I can't help on location. There are many threads on AF regarding converters, but the short answer is yes you should consider a replacement. New multi stage converters are much better for your batteries. A good resource is bestconverter.com.

The new converters do not have a fuse panel.

Remove the fuse panel from the current Univolt (the converter) and install it with a new Univolt.

There are only three connections with the replacement.

Positive, negative and ground.

Using the old fuse panel, will also save you more than a hundred dollars.

A person must be careful when purchasing a "inverter", the device that changes 12 volts DC to 120 volts AC.

For AC equipment to operate properly, the AC, which is a sine wave, must be very good.

Cheapy inverters do not put out a very good sine wave, which makes it very inefficient, and could ruin some equipment.

The sine wave, the plus and minus happens 60 times per second. The actual peak AC voltage for 120 volts AC is 170 volts. 120 X 1.414.

I'm pretty sure the Univolt is in the curbside storage compartment (or closet), under the end of the bathtub.
