So I called Progressive Dynamics and talked to a technical service person. He suggested that the charge line from the tow vehicle be connected to the positive battery post. Does this sound right?

yes, it connects to the battery via the junction box (where the 7 way terminates) the charge line lead should be fused so there isnt a hot 12volt lead goin straight off the battery.

the battery should have a thermal fuse in line to prevent shorts.
