How to remove Univolt

My eyesight is not what it was and as you know the space is cramped.. How many screws am I looking for to unmount(?) the old Univolt from compartment and where am I looking for them?

Don't see to many Airstream owners from the Outer Banks. Glad to have you with us. One of my favorite campgrounds is Sands of Time in Avon.

Make sure you have plenty of light so that you can see as well as possible. I think mine had four screws securing it to the floor, but I really can't remember. The new converter will be much smaller, so it should be easier to put in than to take out the old one. Good luck.

They may have 4 screws or small lag bolts in the corners where the "feet" stick out. Or they may have only two, generally in the front where they were easier to install by the workers in the factory. My 20' Argosy had none... they had pulled out, the Univolt then hopped up and down, the main wiring then got under it, and then there was an occasional short, blowing a fuse. I only found the source of that nagging problem when I replaced the darn heavy monster.

Well, alright. Got snagged by a pinched nerve..am just getting back to this. HOW on earth do you reach those nuts!? I've been awkwardly turning the nearest one but it seems to be spinning. I thought maybe Dremel but the angles are so hard and that was among the things lost in Hurricane Irene. Do I need to cut away the closet wall? thanks!

Ours was mounted to a piece of wood, then the wood had two screws holding it to the floor. They were right out front where you could see them. The wood and univolt slid out from the little hole and the wires were just long enough to work on it in the closet.

I would stick a pry bar under it and gently pry. It is probably held in with 1/4" lag screws. They may just pull right out of the old wood.
