This is my first airstream. I picked it from a neighbor for a great price, it seemed like the perfect place for my kids to "camp out" and keep my wife's peace of mind. Anyway we just got the "stream" in the back yard and the Batteries are dead so I got the owners manual out and it said that there is a 120v power cord in the bumper storage. I go look and low and be hold there is a 220v dryer plug on the end of this power cord. I'm not an electrician but I don't think that system will handle 220. Now I need to know if there is a fuse panel or some device that prevents the completely stupid from hurting them selves. I have never seen the airstream have power applied. I have very little history on it
That ain't no 220v dyer plug! That's a 30 amp 115 v. If you want to plug it into a normal 15 amp wall outlet, go to hardware store and get one of these.

What your looking at is the 30 amp adaptor plug(maybe 50 amp) Pull it off and plug into a suitable household plug. Don't try to run all the electrical in the Airstream until you know you are plugged into a circuit with a large enough circuit breaker to protect it. Yuo should be able to charge the batteries, if they are good, run the lights, etc. Good luck....great deal you got.
thats right. I can either run the ac or run the lights from the service on my out building. together they will trip the circuit breaker. it is a 20 amp circuit

Ok the plug on the end of the power cord plugs into the dryer out in my house. In the bumper storage there is another plug that has been removed form the the cord. It is the correct 30 amp 125v RV plug. I have removed the 220v plug and replaced it with the correct one. I still have no power to the Airstream. Any ideas as to what might have blown or burnt out when the 220 was applied?
I'd take apart the circuit breaker panel and look for signs of melted wires. The hazard is that the person who changed over the plug may have also bonded the neutral and ground circuits, which is always done in your house, but never done in a trailer.
I'm sure if they plugged it into 220v, it immediately blew out any lights that were turned on, and may have let the magic smoke out of the converter.
Can you tell me where this magic circuit breaker panel is? I'm looking at it for the first time in the day light and still can't find it. Next question is can I buy an adapter for the 30 amp plug from home depot or do I need to go to a rv specific business
