Have you seen my battery & cables alongside the road???

I took my 31' land yaught into the mountains today. It was a rough road and when I got there my battery locker door was open and my new interstate and cables are gone gone gone. Some bear is now using it to watch the football game.

Where can I get new cables to fit the disconect on the harness in my trailer???

Ouch! I had my door open once, but did not loose my battery. The metal on the catch is soft and when the rear of the trailer swings on mountain roads, you know what can happen.

I have a strap that attachés across the front of the battery. Hopefully this will stop the battery if it wants to leave.

MAny of us are not familiar with the disconnect; assume it is a polarized connector of some kind. CAn you provide a picture.

An alternative would be using Anderson Power Pole connectors. The yare available in 35, 45, 75 and 120 amp versions. You could put new connectors on the existing cables in the trailer and the matching on the new battery cables. These connectors are used for commercial applications and many amateur radio operators use them. Check out this web site:

Standard Powerpole® Family

That polarized battery connection was discontinued more than 10 years ago.

It also had some what of a corrosion problem as well.

Extend the cables and use battery terminal clamps, solves the problem.

If i remember right, I think the cable was # 4 or # 6 gauge.

I had a company build cables with Anderson quick disconnects. I will look up the information when I get home from work. I think it was Baker Manufacturing Company but I do not remember which city/state. Since the original disconnect with battery lugs was missing in the second battery compartment of my '77 Excella, I had to have a complete set made from the battery box to the fuse box. As Andy mentioned, you could easily measure and buy new cables with the battery lugs attached. You run the wire end through the battery box and up into the body of the trailer to the fuse box.
