Got a hummmm
I have noticed a hummm coming from the control panel everything seems to be working fine. Is this normal.

Becky,
I hope your hearing is better than mine...I suspect the hum is coming from the Univolt (battery charger/converter) Run a board search on Univolt...  But as long as everything is working I wouldn't be worrying.

Becky, as Aaron says, this will be the Univolt. I assume you are plugged into the 120 volt mains AC power. If you unplug this, and run on the trailer battery for a minute, the hum should stop . The hum is caused by the alternating current reversing direction 50 or 60 times per second ( depends which side of the Atlantic you're on), and setting up sympathetic vibrations. You've probably heard a neon tube light making the same noise. If the noise bothers you at night, you can run on the battery overnight, or upgrade the Univolt (the trailer's battery charger), to a more quiet, modern and efficient charger such as the Intellipower. (Try the search facility for more than you thought you needed to know about them).

The Univolt in my Tradewind hums as well. It seems the more the power draw, the louder the hum. It still works great though. I'll be interested to see how it acts with new batteries.

My last Argosy purchase, the PO after I paid him said well, I never hooked into electicity, it made a wierd humming sound from under the sink in the back, we just ran extension cords.... It was the Univolt, works fine but the sound would be alarming if you were not aware.........

60 cycle hum
It is the same sound (only louder) that you get from the ballast on flourescent lights, and for the same reason. It is a 60 cycle hum from the transformer part of it, and is nothing to be alarmed about in and of itself.
The older Univolts tend to overcharge batteries, and for that reason, and the humming, many folks replace them.

Best investment made.. would be the first thing to be replaced for any older trailer ... no more humming ...  .. and saves the life of your battery

Glad to hear that it is nothing major since I found the floor under the gaucho rotted out seems like the next few weeks are going to be working on the floor and then we will work on upgrading that hummmm.

Yeah, Working on the floor is my new project too. I never even thought about upgrading the Univolt but after reading the threads I guess I will do that too...Wonder which one to get and how much they are?

Would the humming inverter also make a hot spot in the floor behind the couch next to the charger switch??

Short answer: yes.
Long nerdy answer: An inverter is a device to produce AC from DC. It is often used in trailers to power domestic TVs and other AC devices from 12 volt battery power. If your device is in fact a transformer (AKA a converter), like the Univolt or Intellipower, it produces a change in voltage of the AC, then rectifies this to DC to charge the trailer battery(ies). The transformer often has a soft iron core, and heat is produced by the resistance of the iron core to induced eddy currents. This may be the heat you are feeling.
