I have GFI in my garage. I had a simular problem. I beat my head against the wall for a month. My buddy sent his son over who is an electrician. He simly replaced the GFI. Problem solved. I never would have thought they went bad but he said it is very common.

All is OK

It WAS the GFIC breaker. $40 at Home Depot, 10 minutes to install. Same brand as original. Thanks to you all.

$40 for a spare that will probably never go out again? In all my years, I have only replaced 1 GFIC and that was today! Just lucky, I guess.

Of course, if you carry a spare they will never be needed. Karma?
