External battery disconnect switch
I have 2011 fc with a double battery in metal box (factory). To anyone who has installed a battery disconnect switch. Where did you mount the switch? Thank you.

I find it just too easy to disconnect the negative battery cable rather than going to the hassle of installing a battery disconnect switch.

Just a thought, but if you are going to go through the effort of installing a switch you may as well get one that can lock. Added level of theft prevention if the thief can't raise the jack easily.

If I install batteries inside the trailer, is there any reason I can't mount and use this switch inside? safety issue?
Thanks!

You can safely mount AGMs and LFP batteries inside the trailer and obviously the switch can be inside as well. Do not mount wet cell batteries inside the coach as they will off-gas and that is bad news. Some older Classic model Airstreams have wet cells mounted essentially inside the trailer and use some method to vent to the outside. Given the availability of safe AGM batteries nowadays, there is no longer any reason to try and place wet cells inside the trailer.

External battery disconnect switch
Best of both worlds here.
Short battery cable runs and the ability to cut it on or off from outside.

On my trailer the hitch jack is factory wired direct to the batteries so it will work regardless of battery disconnect switch position. To disable you can remove the fuse, or install a hidden in-line switch, or move the jack 'hot' wire to the disconnect switch output post.
With the disconnect switch in "off" everything inside the coach will be "off", eliminating the 'parasitic' drains like the propane detector.
A parasitic drain I have not seen mentioned elsewhere in these forums is the 'power on' indicator lamp in remote controlled Fantastic Fans.
