Dual system? Am I going to blow it up?

I promise, I tried to find this answer.

I have a 64 overlander. In mine, I had a smaller univolt, and a switch system that you flipped when you were running off of battery or shore. I'm pretty sure it's original since it has the original zolatone spray all over it. 64 was a year of experiments, and mine was an international version.

So, my concern is that I've heard that the lights were both DC and AC. Sure enough, last night I hooked up the DC only portion of my system to the intelli-power all in one unit. All the lights came on. My big concern though is that if I hook up the AC lines, I may short something out since there is no longer a switching system. I plan on hooking the two systems seperately, until I find out which wires run the AC to the lights and fans. Then, I plan just to capp off those AC lines and run everything that can be run off of DC just on DC, saving the AC lines for the fridge, outlets, new water heater, and eventually an AC.

Any opinions here? Any reason I shouldn't try running everything off of DC? I'd need it that way when I unhooked anyway.
