Corrosion

2019 GT

Checked batteries 3ish weeks ago. Don't recall seeing this. My batteries have been floating at 13.5, steady. Yesterday and today holding at 14.1, which caused me to check today. All fluids are good.

I'm a 50 amp currently on a 30. I am full- time with shore power. Batteries are in 'use' not 'store'

What could have caused this? What should I do?Click image for larger version

Battery give off corrosive gas while charging. You can spray the corrosion with Corrosion X to prevent further problems. But until you get rid of those wet cell batteries it’s just the way it’s going to be.

I understand. Thanks. One expense at a time.

In addition to the spray on corrosion inhibitor, you can significantly reduce the problem by not slightly "overcharging". Turn off the AS provided converter/charger for at most a week at a time then charge them for a day or two and so on. The batteries off gas significantly more when fully charged and still receiving even a small excess current.

Since you indicated you don't want to make any significant investment, AGM batteries are off the list as is a "smarter" charger.

I wouldn't mind the upgrade, just one big expense at a time.

Thanks. I love my 27. A bit spendy, but I'm happy I did it.
