5 amps difference isn't very likely to cause any problems. You'll hardly ever see a converter cranking out their rated output anyways. They will supply your 12v load which usually isn't really that much steady state amperage draw. Plus putting amperage/charge into a battery is not linear so you generally aren't pushing a ton of amps that way either.

Talk with Randy at Best Converters. I just bought the PD upgrade kit (for the 55 replacement) and the instructions warn not to go higher than current amps due to overheating wiring. I'm no expert so would recommend talking with Randy or perhaps Lewster will chime in.

Should be no problem.

Would this put additional load on a generator or other power supply, just to run the converter?

Not an appreciable difference but it does take a little more power to "make" 60 amps than it does 55

The converter would rarely if ever require the full 60 amps. The full load of 60 amps would be 720 watts. The current (amp) requirement of the converter on a generator or shore power is dependent on it's load requirement (ie battery charging, lights etc) plus any losses in the conversion process. 5 amps is 60 watts. Not a big deal in the scheme of things.

Keep in mind there are 2 different currents. The 12vdc side and 120vac side. Essentially 10-1 conversion so 5amps 12vdc will require only .5 amps 120vac more input on that side.
There is some conversion loss but not highly significant.

.5 amps @ 120 volts is still 60 watts. Not a significant change in the load.
