Converter Fan noise on 2013 FC....

Greetings Folks:

This will be (I'm sure) a really stupid question, but one I need to ask anyway....
Today for the first time - I had a fan come on in the area of my converter. Is that normal? (brown plate under "L-shaped sofa in 28' Flying cloud- rear bedroom)

I tried to do a search on this topic and it does look like the converters have fans - I'm just surprised that this is the first time I've heard it. So does this fan come on a lot when plugged into house power or an I missing something here? As you would have gleamed from my above question I'm new to the airstream and really am just now still trying to figure out what all the systems do.

If someone can give me an education on this - that would be GREAT!

Thanks

Doug

Yep it's normal. At least I hope so because that cooling fan runs on our AS as well(it also ran on our last AS). It should run whenever you are plugged in.

Was it a hot day in combination with you using several 12 volt lights and/or 12v systems. If the answer is yes, that is the way the converters are supposed to function. A thermal switch will turn the fan on to cool it down.
If it was a cold day and you were not using any 12V systems, you may have a shorted battery that is overheating to the point of causing a dangerous situation that should be looked at immediately.
