Red face Charging Battery Question

I am still a newbie and trying to figure out my Bambi 16 ft airstream

When I plugged my airstream in at home to electricity, the Status Panel read that the battery was FULL. I had the Battery switch under the dining table to OFF. Which I think might have been wrong. Am I correct in that it wasn't charging the battery since the SWITCH SAID OFF. Should I always have it turned to ON while sitting in the driveway preparing for a trip the next day so the Battery charges?

Another question, when I am pulling the Airstream with my truck, should I have the Battery SWITCH on ON while driving? Does the ON SWITCH charge the battery from my truck power source?

thanks! Katie

I believe that the main purpose of the switch is to disable your battery from powering any component in the trailer so that the batteries do not drain. Typically, you would do this when your trailer is in storage. When connected to shore power (house or park power), you want the switch to remain on to recharge your batteries. That is also the case when connected to your tow vehicle. In other words, leave the switch on unless you want to preserve what remains until you can get your next charge.

Others posting here can correct or amplify what I have said. That's the beauty of this forum. I have a 2011 27' Flying Cloud and am still using the factory installed batteries after four years of seasonal use. During the winter storage, I pull the batteries, take them into my basement and plug them on a Battery Minder, which keeps them ready for the next year's adventure.
