Charging Batteries

Hello Streamers,
I’m new at this. Recently purchased a 2012 Flying Cloud. I’m storing her at a covered location (AZ sun) where we are allowed 4 hours electricity per day with a 15 amp adapter. My question is do I leave it plugged in full time in the “use” mode? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Mike

No - set the connection on a timer and run the power for two hours every 3-4 days. Longer or more often if the batteries drop in charge over time. Check the battery cell water once a month to verify your bank continues to have sufficient water to continue taking a charge.

What can work better is to store on a full charge and disconnect the batteries from all load with a dedicated disconnect switch or by removing the negative battery cables.

The actual charge time required depends on the battery condition and the parasitic or connected load on the bank. Initialy, we could store for a month with no issue. Later, the battery would be down on charge in two weeks.

Good luck on establishing a process. Some folks use available power to run a dehumidified to keep their coach dry. Arizona should be dry enough that you don't need to do that. Pat

My suggestion is to start with a full charge and disconnect all loads by removing the negative leads going to the coach and inverter.
Then use a Deltran Battery Tender connected directly to the batteries. Your four hour daily allotment will be more than enough to keep up with self-discharge.
I don’t work for Deltran, and I don’t get kickbacks. I own several of their products and am very satisfied with their performance.
