Charging

I have a 2012 Interstate Mercedes chassis. Several questions:

Do the coach batteries charge with the vehicle running? They are charging with shore power, solar panel, and with the generator running. But I don't see them charging with the vehicle running.

Also, does shore power charge the chassis (Mercedes) battery? With shore power, my chassis battery loses charge in 24 hours.

And, with no shore power, and in cloudy conditions (no solar), my coach batteries are seriously depleted in about 36-48 hours. The only things used consistently are the refrigerator. Everything else is used as needed. What is draining the batteries?

Bottom line is, I have to plug in to shore power or use the generator and solar power to keep the coach batteries charged, (they are both new). And, if I'm going to be parked more than 24 hours, I need to start/charge the chassis battery, or disconnect it under the dash by the accelerator pedal.

This doesn't seem right...

Welcome to the forum!

You might want to check out the Sprinter etc. forum for earlier threads on battery management for your unit:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f240/

Many AI owners are active in that forum, and can answer detailed questions based on years of experience. Starting a new thread there might be rewarding IMO.

Good luck,

Peter
