I have a 76 service manual and it shows 4 different diagrams for a 31 foot model depending on the layout. 3 of them show the 12 volt distribution on the curb side near the middle of the trailer. One shows it curb side near the rear. It will be located near to where the battery compartment is located. In my 75 TW it is located in the closet in the rear bath, curbside near the floor.

Mystery solved -- why I could not find the Univolt or the 12 volt fuse panel ... duh!

Well, I finally gave up and had a seasoned RV repair guy take a look at my Airstream to assist in finding the Univolt and the 12 volt fuses ... and, lo and behold, the reason I could not find either one is because ... they no longer exist! Apparently the former owner had replaced the OEM Univolt and 12 volt fuse panel with a new inverter and bi-metal circuit breakers. His opinion is that what I have is much, much better than the OEM setup; he was also able to remedy the power problem to the radio, which was a loose retaining nut on the positive wire on the circuit breaker.

Again, I thank all on this forum who offered assistance and advice. I am now enjoying my new AM/FM/CD unit with an AUX input for an IPOD/MP3 player or other device. I can even rig up a cable from my DVD player and watch movies with the sound coming from the Airstream speakers! While the old OEM speakers sound great with the new unit, I may try replacing the old speakers with new speakers of the same size to get even better sound.

Mine is in the rear compartment, right side of the battery.

I too have the same problem in a 1977 Safari. I've found the inverter, but I can't get to it to change anything. I wonder if I should pull the front couch and inspect all that's up front. I've lost the RH Brake Lights (bulbs OK) and the RH Signal (bulbs OK), and wonder if there is a fuse (?) for them. Is there a decent book for these things?

Can I replace the univolt (assuming I can find it) in my 76 Sovereign with a Progressive Dynamics Converter? Is there an ideal replacement product?
Thank you!

The service manual is very detailed. You can order one from the Airstream store. I think they are around $60.
