Can anyone tell me what the power on wire is for?

Well I just switched over from the old univolt to a boondocker converter/ charger from bestconverter.com. The old univolt had a ground, positive, negative, and what seems to be an extra positive small gauge wire to the power on in the fuse panel. I can't seem to find what that extra small wire powered or did for my 81 excella II. It's a 31ft center bath model. I have the owners Manuel and it only labels it not really explaining what it does. In the picture it went in the bottom of the far left fuse block. Any educated guesses would be great. Thank for your time.
Terry

That was an isolated 12 volt line that ran to the power on light on your panel. The light only came on when the converter was powered. It is a small sacrifice when installing a new converter.

Outstanding. Thank you so much for the quick response Azflycaster. That sounds about right. It seems to only have a 4 amp fuse. I knew it couldn't be for anything to special. Any idea where the light might be located? On my display panel?

On my 75 it is on the same panel as the tank gauges and is located in the cabinet over the stove.

If what you replaced was the Univolt, there was a device on it called the "shunt" that supplied voltage so that your tank gauges would work. If you saved the Univolt, it's still there on it and can be removed.

Search "shunt" using the search engine here, you'll see what to do.

Of course, the gauges rarely worked anyways, so don't hold your breath!

My gauges work very well actually. I need to clean a couple of sensors but other than that they are fine. It doesn't actually say univolt on it I will try and post a picture.

That's it, anything with a TU model number is a Univolt. The fuses are usually on the other end, along with the shunt, if it's like the 1974 models.

Can you post another photo?
