Boiled out battery smell

Anyone have any ideas for how to remove the rotten egg smell from a boiled out battery. A new converter solved our problem in our '69, but nothing seems to be able to remove the smell in the cabin. We've tried bleach, charcoal, air fresheners, candles... You name it. Any chemistry experts out there????

Scrub out the battery box with baking soda, and leave an open box there, and several more in the coach.

So when is this..."old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?
