Battery - Trojan 6Vs won't hold charge

Hi, Just three months ago had dealer convert 12 V Interstates to 6 V Trojan, and a shut off switch. Picked up AS this week and Trojans are at 8.9 and won't hold charge even after a week hooked up to 110 V in Use position. Is this normal or will I be going thru batteries over and over?

I am not sure if your current batteries are ever going to be the same but I assume the advice you may receive from everyone will be to purchase some sort of small solar panel set up to keep the batteries topped up. Unless of course you store your trailer indoors, then you would need to figure something else out.

When I first got my trailer I was so worried about showing up to the storage lot and finding dead batteries that I ensured they were fully charged before I completely disconnected them. Never had a problem. Now that I have a 100 watt panel on the roof I no long need to disconnect the batteries or worry about such things........except to make sure the batteries still have enough water every couple of months. I have only needed to add water one time in 8 the past eight months.

Can you describe in more detail what kind of shut-off switch the dealer installed? Are all loads disconnected from the battery while shut-off, including the CO2 detector and jack? Were the batteries fully charged before you put them in storage? Did you disconnect the batteries yourself before putting it in storage? After a few more days, are the batteries still at 8.9 V?

Did the upgrade the converter too? Even if the batteries are shot, they should read ~13v for a moment. What does the voltage read when plugged in? I did that upgrade this spring and have been enjoying them.
