Battery storage box too small

I have a 2015 FC 25RB. I am considering the purchase of two Trojan 6v batteries to replace the stock Interstates. It looks like the Trojans are a couple of inches taller and wouldn’t fit under the lid. Has anyone else encountered this issue and what was your remedy? I would prefer the batteries remain outside due to a shortage of storage space inside. Thanks for your help.

Box extensions

Yep, this is a well-known issue people experience. MANY good threads if you query the search. Most people raise the height at the top of the box, but you'll see some people who drop the bottom when clearance is an issue. Newer trailers have taller boxes.

I did what you want to do. I used a box extender from Vinnie's Northbay Airstream. Simple and worked well.

Thanks for your responses. I really like the look of Vinnie’s product. It should be perfect for my needs.

The 2027 AS’s have a battery box that is just about 1/16th of an inch shy of 12” deep. Also, after trying to track down a supplier of Trojan batteries that didn’t have a $160 shipping charge racked on, I ran across Batteries Plus 6 volt batteries. The Duracell 6v ultra golf cart batteries are 64 lbs. and they get great reviews. One year warranty but I suppose if they last the year and you take care of them, they will do all right. $114 plus a 10% discount and at the same ah rating, I’m going for them.

Same amp hr rating as t105 re Trojans. Pick them up at a local store (Batteries Plus) and no shipping!

I added two inches to the top of my box using aluminum square channel. Used self taping screws. Certainly not as pretty as a professionally made extension but it still gets positive comments and safely does the job.

I used two of the 6v Duracell deep cycle flooded batteries in my last RV. They were fine when the draw was below a 100 amps or so but, like most flooded batteries, weren’t happy about going much higher without significant voltage drop. My Magnsine inverter would often try to pull more than that when running the microwave, hair drier, etc. If you have that kind of application I’d bite the bullet and go AGM or Lithium.
