Battery Disconnect - newbie/simple question please....

My battery disconnect light is always on - whether on shore power or battery power.... is this standard. Not really covered in my manual. If the light is always on, what is the purpose of having a light?

thanks in advance.
J.

Is it on when you have the battery disconnected AND shore power is unplugged? The light probably indicates that you have power going to the trailer's 12v systems, regardless of the source of the power. If you unplug from shore power and turn off the batteries, the light should go out.

That's normal. The light should be out when you are not on shore power, and you have pressed the battery disconnect switch. If it remains on then, you've got a problem.

The "Store/Use" nomenclature has caused a lot of us to scratch our heads!

Yes, been there, done that. I ruined a set of batteries because I thought I was charging them on shore power, because the red light was on. Only two months later did I realize that the batteries were not connected. After completely draining the batteries they couldn't be coaxed back to life. As usual, I learned about the red light's operation the hard way.
