Battery disconnect.

The battery disconnect on my 23' safari stopped working. No red light, NO clicking when I engage the toggle switch. All systems otherwise seem to work. Advice?

They have been known to fail.

"Use/store switch bad" search results:

https://www.google.com/search?q=use%...=airforums.com

The light on ours does not always illuminate, so we turn it on and off a number of times in quick succession, after which the light usually comes back on. Maybe try this a dozen or so times?

When you say "All systems otherwise seem to work" do you mean all the 12-volt systems function correctly when you disconnect from shore power? If you have an overhead light on for instance, and then put the Use/Store switch on Store, does that overhead light go off? Or does it stay on no matter what you do with the Use/Store switch?

Good luck!

There is a single wire running to the bottom of the solenoid from the switch. Mine had come lose. I have a FB and it is located under the bed with the inverter.

Easy fix if indeed this is the problem. Dave

Thanks, Peter. Yes, when I disconnect from shore power, the overhead lights and other 12 volt items work with the battery disconnect apparently disabled. Does that help?

My layman's guess is that the Use/Store switch's relay has failed in the "Use" position. Not sure if this creates any danger, but you apparently will not be able to disengage your 12-volt system from the batteries, in order to save juice. I would replace the entire switch, if some other more-expert opinion does not come along to explain this.

I am not sure what might have caused such a failure of the switch/relay, but a voltage surge comes to mind as one possibility which could have fused the contacts inside. Again just a lay opinion. BTW and FWIW -- using a surge protector is recommended any time you hook up to CG shore power.
