Anyone changed from this to that?

I want to change over to new 12V fuse panel (ala Vintage Trailer Supp.) on my 65 Caravel, but dont understand how the wiring for lights/outlets/switches wire into new fuse box. Anyone done this change-over?

I just did this changeover in my '72. It was pretty straightforward. I assume you have the old glass fuses in your Caravel. Just do a one for one swap for each circuit using an appropriately sized fuse.

Anyone changed from this to that?

Thanks for the help! I went to the parallax diagram but am still not clear (dense!) The wiring coming out of the skin that goes to the lights, etc...goes thru existing fuse panel. Each wire has two legs, and I don't understand how this wires to new parallax fuse box- what leg goes where? Guess I don't get it....do the lights which have 12V bulbs, and the receptacles/switches wiring all go thru 12V fuse box?

I didn't have that box unit with the switches in my '72, but it still shouldn't be too hard. Looking at your pictures it looks like each circuit goes through a switch and a fuse on your old unit. You don't need the switches anymore so remove that part from the equation. Do you know which wire controls circuit? If you don't, do this. Remove one end of the wire from the fuse and see which lights and fans you lose. Each circuit in my '72 controlled one part of my trailer, i.e one circuit for bathroom, one circuit for bedroom, one circuit for kitchen, and one circuit for control panel and outside lights. Yours should be similar.

On your new fuse panel each individual circuit wires to the bottom of each fuse. The positive lead from your battery and tow vehicle wire to the positive leads on your new fuse panel. The negative leads wire to the negative bus bar on the new panel. Some folks wire the charger/converter to this fuse panel while others wire it directly to the batteries.

Well, I'm only gettin' some of it. I figured out bringing the positive lead in from the new DLS converter and conecting the five primary circuits to the fused posts on the bottom of my new Parallax fuse panel. What I'm missing is how to handle the wires coming in from the 7-way Plug Harness. In my system, the trailer lights (e.g., four circuits for turn signals, brake lights etc.) are fused in the old panel.

Per the owner's manual, A/X, B/Y, C/Z and D/AA all serve the trailer lights. F, G, H, J and K are all fused to W the positive from the Univolt. Do I need to get a seperate fuse box for the trailer lights, or can I hard-wire them since the circuits are already fused in the truck?

Also -- the old system fuses the battery connection (e.g., L - pos, M - pos, N - neg, and P - neg). I don't see this accommodation in the Parallax. Is it necessary?

Hope my questions make sense to someone here.

The circuits for your 7-pin connector must be on a separate fuse panel since they get power from your tow vehicle. Most Airstreams I've seen have the self healing breakers to protect these towing lights. Now the 12v charge wire from your tow vehicle will go to your regular fuse panel and will wire up to one of the 12v power feeds.
