Amp-hr for a '63 Bambi?

I am trying to find out what amp-hr battery to put in my '63 Bambi. I would like to use a deep cycle gel but i am not sure which Amp-hr size to get...

Hi kaffe; The bigger the better, amp wise. Check the physical sizes to make sure it fits the batt holder. That is your only restriction. Thanks, "Boatdoc"

Kaffe,

We have a deep cycle gel battery in our 1963 Bambi. Our decision on which size to get was determined not only by size but by the price! Also, is your Bambi running more than the original 12 volt lights with the battery? Might post your requirements of what you want to do and how much you use. Many things will depend... is your water system the original pressure system (it doesn't use much battery vs a pump system...) How about your other systems?

Good luck.

I have a newer pump system, lights, 3-way fridge and vent fan. I would not expect to be able to run the fridge on Battery power for very long but I understate that on the newer units that under LP power there is DC power required for the fan. If you don't mind me asking, How much did you spend on your battery? What size did you get? I also expect price to play a big part in my final decision.

I think Boatdoc pretty much answered your original question, along with the price consideration.
There are lots of things to consider AFTER you install your battery: How long you will be camping, with or without 115 volt connection, how many lights/appliances you use, etc.
The website below has a lot of great information on batteries, the 12 volt system, etc. There is a part two (Look for link at bottom page 1) that covers solar, energy saving suggestions and a whole lot more. Super site IMHO for easy to understand 12 volt info, all layed out under headings for different subjects. Check it out.
