AGM Battery: Cabela's or Lifeline?

I see where Cabelas is having a sale on their "Advanced Anglers", AGM, Group 24 battery this week, it's going for $129.99. A Group 24 Lifeline battery is over $300. In this case, do you really get what you pay for? Without trashing one product or the other, could someone tell me what the difference is between these two batteries?

Thanks, Dan

check the "amp hours" listed on each. I noticed while looking at "optima" batteries at Sam's club, their similarly priced agm was rated at 55ah, while the lifeline was around 100 or 105. twice the money...but also twice the capacity.

Dan, an earlier post from a vendor in these forums who sold batteries said that the Cabela batteries were made by Universal, a decent brand. Assuming that the specs are the same (and that is an assumption), it looks like the Group 24 Universal battery is 75 amp hours.

Where did you see this sale listed? The price online is still $170 - I want two of these for my trailer. Might have to take a trip to the recently opened Cabelas up the road...

Also check the battery manufacture date, I have run into "great" sales but the batteries for sale were 2-3 years old. They have a potential shelf life of about a year. I don't know if that applies to the AGM batteries or not.

Mutcth, the battery was listed in a newspaper insert from the Lehi, Utah store.

Group 24 AGM Battery $129.99 "Advanced Anglers" (it was regularly priced at 169.99)

If the Cabela battery is made by Universal it is Chinese. Not running down Universals, I just put a 4D in my Tradewind, but I did not know it was Chinese when I bought it. There was a response in an earlier post of mine saying Universals are not nearly as good as Lifelines.

They only have to be half as good at half the price.

But a battery that doesn't last as long as you want it to is not worth any of the price. When boondocking, amp hours matter.

I see the light, and hopefully it will last longer in the desert with one high quality battery rather than two half quality (twice the weight) batteries.

I am frugal, but I'm not cheap.

Thanks, Dan
