We installed four Lifeline GPL-6ct (6Vdc and 300 amp hours each wired serial and parallel for 12Vdc and 600 amp hours as a group) batteries in a custom box above the factory battery box. The factory box with a very modified lid became the home for the BrakeRite II SD electric/hydraulic pump for our disc brakes.

When Lew Farber thinks the new style Lifeline lithium ion batteries are ready for prime time, we will install them and greatly lower our existing tongue weight.

Switz,

AM Solar is assembling their own lithium ( LiFePO-4) batteries as single units in multiples of 100 amp/ hours. They are complete with their proprietary battery monitor system and cell balancing electronics.

Only problem we are facing now is the shipping. They are considered hazardous materials and require special shipping protocols. AM Solar is working on that aspect to make them more available, but the batteries ARE ready!

A 400 amp/hour lithium pack will give you up to 320 usable amp/hours at a constant voltage (no voltage sag) and would weigh in the neighborhood of 120 lbs.

I would beg to differ on the subject of putting AGM's inside. There are conditions where, even though they are sealed, will outgas. They have built in over pressure releases. I personally would resist putting any std. lead/acid or AGM in the passenger compartment.

While this is technically true, it would require quite a catastrophic charging event to cause the one way valve in a Lifeline ( I don't use any other AGM and will not vouch for their product quality).

A Lifeline will require extremely high voltages above 15.5 VDC or a thermal runaway condition to cause this valve to open and vent. Proper charging is KEY to preventing this condition from happening.

I have installed over 100 Lifeline AGM battery systems in the past 10 years and have never had a client experience an open valve condition. I have not even experienced a bad battery in all of those installations either.

Possible.......yes, but with minuscule odds of occurring.

I found this link in which Ktholin added to the bottom of the battery box. His post is at the bottom.
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f449...ox-124163.html

I could add up to 4" on the bottom and that would be the level of my spare tire. That would give me the option to either go with the Lifeline AGMs (300AHrs) or 2 Trojan T-145 (287AHrs) at about 1/2 the price. Hitch wt isn't an issue for my TV.

I'ld prefer not to place AGMs inside as I don't want to use up precious storage space (which ASs seem to all have a lack of).
