Adding a battery to our Palamino Popup

Hey guys, I know its not an Airstream, but we bought a 1995 Palamino Mustang Popup Camper to go along with our Argosy-Airstream and it does not have a seperate battery.

The Popup has 110/115 volt shore power with a power converter, I want to add a 12 volt battery, probably to the tongue area.

Here is a good basic wiring diagram for your conversion. http://www.vintagetrailersupply.com/...ingdiagram.jpg

Apache camp,
Dig around and see if there is any pre-existing wiring for the 12volt system. Most popups I have dealt with had some sort of wiring for the battery, quite often led out to the tongue for battery installation. Typically it will be a black and white two strand wire.

I noticed today the "Converter" has a switch for "Conv/Off/Batt, so I'm guessing it had or had an option for a battery, I also saw a black and white wire coming out of the converter but it went into hidden areas.

I'm assuming this Converter just converts 110volt shore power to 12 volt power for the lights......I don't see a 12 volt fuse block, should I add a fuse block and will this converter work??????

The converter should have either an internal fuse block, or a breaker panel behind it. I'm installing a battery in a Coleman popup at work that never had a battery, and most of the stuff it needs is already there.
You'll need a group 24 deep cycle battery, a battery box for it to go in, about 5 feet of relatively thin angle iron to weld to the tongue for support, and a pigtail assembly to hook the battery to the popup's electrical system. I'll take my camera to work tomorrow, and see if I can document the upgrade for you. If I can get to it, I'm kind of covered up in work right now...
