Adding 12V to '57 Caravanner

I'm in need of some advice...
I'm replacing my old AC fridge with a dometic 2-way which requires 12v to operate. I have a 7 prong pigtail which provides an isolated 12v to a single light fixture and a 12v outlet plug, which i can tap into and will work when my truck is hooked up to the trailer. What I need is a simple design for when I'm
hooked up to AC power and also when boondocking. I'm sure this has probably been answered here somewhere...and I've been looking for a few hours; but can't find the answer yet. Any pointers would be appreciated.

What is your battery status? That's your source of 12V while boondocking. To get the AC power to charge your battery while plugged in you will want to get a modern converter/charger installed. Nice carravanner you have there! Ed

Be careful! You could end up with a drained tow vehicle battery. A self contained battery with high Amp Hours .....and a newer type converter for those times when you have plug in capability.....thats what you need.

A good point to start on understanding what you need is The 12volt Side of Life (Part 1). There is a Part II that is linked at the end of Part I. Give a lot of thought to what you want to power beyond the refrigerator. Getting it right the first time will save you money.

Read through one of the Caravanner or Flying Cloud threads from the mid fifties to see what others have done.
