68 Globetrotter wiring

I'm trying to determine a couple of things about a friends 68 GT:

is it normal for none of the 12v system to work unless a battery is installed? i.e. does the battery 'complete' the loop or system? or should the univolt provide 12v power if hooked to shore power - regardless of the battery?

also, is the a website that has the original wiring schematic available?

I have other questions but I'll wait on the above answers

You should use and need a battery.

Here is a diagram for a 67 GT. It will help if no one comes up with a 68.

that gets me pretty close. the battery on this unit is located @ the back rather than the street side.

And, there are two sets of DC wires with "ring" attachments for wingnut posts... not sure if those are both factory wires or if one set is an add-on?

ok...here's what we have currently.

the two huge (double) wires in the center of the pic appear to be the original 12v wiring for the battery connections and the two add-ons to the right look like maybe someone added those onto the 'romex' type wire. I'm guessing maybe the univolt stopped putting out DC so they 'straight-wired' the 12v system to the battery?

any guesses?
