66' AS Safari ?

Just bought a 66' AS Safari. Removing the rear access panel I found some cut wires coming out of the interrior wall of the trailer. Any idea what they went to? Also the one disconnected in the juction box? Thanks!

I'm not sure about the wire in the box, but the wires in the corner likely went to your Univolt converter. That's where the Univolt in our '64 Tradewind was located.

Hi Max7:

Welcome to the Forums! I second Ms. typing Molly's observation. That space on the left to the rear of the water heater is where your Univolt was, but good riddance to its ancient technology. Buy an Intellipower or WICO Converter with 3 stage battery charger to replace the thankfully gone Unifry. Then you can build a battery mount roughly under the plastic battery cover, buy a nice battery to go in it, and get youself wired up. I don't know why all the buss fuses are missing near the detached large wire, but I suggest you find out before replacing them and running power through them. Have fun with your neat old Safari.

Max,

The wires on the left side went to the univolt. My '66 Safari now has a regular electrical receptacle there and my converter plugs into it.

I will get some pictures of how the 12 volt is wired and post them for you.
