I've been able to account for almost every wire in the back of my 64 overlander except these marked in the pictures? if you have any idea as to where or what they went to, please let me know.
(both pictures are from the rear of the trailer, street side, below the breaker box.)
Sorry, the wording in the pictures is not large enough. here's what the one on the right says.
the loose orange wire goes to the on-board battery. no problem there. the other orange wire and the large white wire don't seem to go anywhere? i.e. they don't surface anywhere else in the trailer and don't seem to have any effect or disable anything when unhooked? My thought was, perhaps they pre-wire all of the trailers (per model) the same and only certain wires were used based on which options this particular trailer had? for example, maybe this trailer came with a two way fridge, but was prewired for three? just a thought.
In the first photo, the new wiring suggests the cut wire was replaced, and just not removed from the interior skin. I know the older coaches didn't come with 3 way fridges, it is possible (probable) the wires go to equipment that is no longer in the coach, like an air pump or fan.

If I remember correctly, the orange & white wires in the back of mine went to two different circuits: one went to a couple of 12V outlets and also to the inside of the front endcap, where the stereo was; and the other went to the furnace.
Other circuits were: one for all the lights, one for the fans (ceiling and cooker), and one that was the return cable from the water pump switch by the door. If I recall correctly, those were all 12/2 sheathed cable, though.
The other possibility is that it's the cable that goes to the trailer-connector for charging the trailer from the tow vehicle, although I think that was blue/white in mine.
Doug, I have a couple of "wires to nowhere" in my '73. It looks like Airstream wired every Overlander with the same bundle, but only used the wires needed for the options purchased. For example, I have unused blue wires down the center of the ceiling that are tied to the charge line from the TV. Also, there is a yellow/white pair at the foot of the roadside bunk that I think was to be used to power a 12v television/stand that was not purchased.

Jacob, correct, I've got a large Blue wire from the TVehicles DC (if I remember right)...
and I can account for stink fan in bathroom, water pump switch, etc. but forgot about the furnace blower... I'll doulbe check it before leaving them undone.
any other thoughts on what that chopped 12/2 might have gone too? just curious more than anything I guess?
If you're replacing the floor at the back there, you'll need to take off that wall panel anyway to screw the C channel to the floor - you might get a better idea then. That was certainly the first point where I could definitively trace all the cables in mine.
