30 amp on 50 amp trailer

Not sure where to ask this so picked here. If I have a 50 amp trailer and pull into a place that only has 30 amp, once I hook up with my pigtail what should I not run or can I run anything just cycle from sat A/C to other high power things ie water heater???

We own a 2011 Flying Cloud 30' with dual a/c units and 50 amp capability. The only limitation I'm aware of when using 30 amp service is that only one of the two a/c units may be used. Everything else seems to operate just fine.

BTW, will be staying at the Mount Pleasant KOA for six days this coming April. We will attend a meeting in Charleston and then head over to Atlanta for the Region 3 Rally.

Also don't use the microwave oven while the airconditioner compressor is running.

Our trailer is also 50 amp because of the two a/c units. We haven't run into any problems as long as we only run one a/c.

Some one by the way has offered us a fifty amp site at a park. Should I also be concerned about what to plug this '70 model in to?

The only concern would be plug adaption. The circuits in the trailer will not be affected.

Hi Bob. I also have a trailer with 50a.

In a 30a site, I find that I can't run both air conditioners without special procedures (see below). And, I can run any two of:
- Air conditioner
- Electric water heater
- Microwave.

If it's hot and all I can get is a 30a site, I have found that I can run both air conditioners, as long as:
- I run the fridge on gas
- I turn off the breaker for the converter
- I leave the rear A/C fan on low
- And don't run anything else, like the water heater or the microwave.

After dusk when things have cooled down I shut off one of the air conditioners and turn the converter back on. The batteries can carry the 12v load in the meantime.

On a 30a site I can run everything except either the AC or the water heater. Either one is fine, not both.
